QUINCY, ILL. -- City Alderman Kyle Moore officially announced his candidacy for the upcoming mayoral election in Quincy Saturday.

He will run against incumbent mayor, John Spring, who is expected to formally announce his bid on Monday.

Moore made the announcement Saturday morning outside of the Quincy Elks Lodge. He is currently serving his first term as the third ward city alderman. Moore was elected to the position in April of 2009.

"They want a change in City Hall. And in order to attract new jobs in Quincy, in order to unify the community on a common vision on how we're going to go after head of household jobs, we're going to need a new administration in City Hall," Moore said.

Moore says that, if elected, his administration will work to make head of household jobs flourish.

He says that within the next four months, he will begin to show more of his plans to improve the future of Quincy.
