QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy Mayor John Spring wants four more years. The democrat officially announced his run for re-election Monday morning surrounded by his family.

Spring has been mayor for the last eight years, and says he's very proud of his record, and he thinks he has what it takes to lead the city another four years.

"It's pretty remarkable, as you look over the past couple of years, they've been very difficult years for the economies in lots of cities throughout the region.  They've lost their ways, faced huge debt.  They've faced almost turning their keys over to the states.  We haven't had to do that," says Mayor John Spring.

Two years ago, Mayor Spring was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

When asked about his health, he says he is healthy and works out most days.

Third ward Alderman Kyle Moore, a republican announced over the weekend that he is also running for mayor.
