COLLINSVILLE, ILL. (AP) -- A horse track in the Metro East will scale back its schedule in hopes of stretching its finances.
Fairmount Park president Brian Zander says the Collinsville site will offer 60 days of live racing instead of 90.
The intent is to keep the track afloat as state lawmakers debate a massive expansion of gambling that could be a boost to the track while it competes against riverboat casinos.
Zander says he'll officially notify the Illinois Racing Board this week.
The 2008 season at Fairmount will run from April 18 to September 1, with racing on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.
