The QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy School Board is a step closer to finding a new superintendent.

Thursday night, the board met with School Exec Connect to discuss the interview process to move forward with the search.

Five candidates were unveiled to the board during a closed session.

Some of those candidates will be privately interviewed Friday night, while the remaining ones will be interviewed on Saturday.

"Over the next two days, we're going to interview those five candidates," school board president Bill Daniels said. "Hopefully between what the candidates see of us and what we see of them, we're going to find two to three of those people that we want to bring back for a second round of interviews in which hopefully we'll select our next superintendent."

Thirty-three candidates applied for the Quincy superintendent position.
