MACOMB, ILL. (AP) -- Cheaper electricity and an education, too.

That's what Western Illinois University says it's new wind turbine will deliver.

The 70 foot, 2.4 kilowatt turbine was installed on December 6th near the school's golf course.

Most of the funding for the turbine came from a $28,000 grant from the state.

The turbine is part of the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs Illinois Wind for Schools project.

That program aids middle schools and high school in Illinois in adding wind energy into their student learning programs.

The program is also designed to get kids ready for future jobs in the renewable energy field.
