Shots fired leads to Columbia man's arrest

QUINCY, ILL. -- A man charged in a weekend shooting made his first court appearance Monday morning.

Chad Lee Thomas, of Columbia, Missouri is lodged in the Adams County Jail on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Thomas was appointed a public defender at a hearing in Adams County Court today.

Quincy Police responded to a report at 4:02 a.m. Sunday of shots being fired from a moving vehicle in the area of 3rd and Elm streets.

When officers arrived on scene they discovered multiple shots had been fired, but no injuries were reported.

During the investigation a small caliber semi-automatic handgun was found in the area.

Thompson was given a $50,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 2.
