People everywhere observed a moment of silence Friday morning at 8:30 to remember the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy.

Websites everywhere went black to show support.

There was silent prayer, meditation and personal thought heard round the world and church bells rang in remembrance.

Officials in Newtown, including Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman and Newtown First Selectman Patricia Llodra, convened on the steps of Edmond Town Hall for the moment of silence.

For reaction on the day's event, follow the hashtag #momentforsandyhook on Twitter.
