A Keokuk man is in jail after he was charged with raping a woman inside her home.

Anthony Arguello, 37, of Keokuk was arrested at 2:40 a.m. Monday on a charge of second-degree sexual abuse, according to police Chief Dave Hinton.

The woman who lives in the 400 block of S. 12th St. contacted police shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday and told officers that she was raped by a man who entered her home.

“There is no known connection between the suspect and the victim,” Hinton said.

Arguello was arrested after police found footprints leading from the victim's home to Arguello's residence. He also fit the description given to investigators by the victim.

Arguello is being held at the Lee County Jail on $50,000 bond.
