ADAMS COUNTY, ILL. -- A Loraine, Ill. man is in jail Saturday facing charges of battery, assault and resisting a peace officer.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department arrested Kyle A. Smith Saturday afternoon after a caller reported a physical disturbance at a rural Loraine home.

Upon arrival, sheriff's deputies and members of the Illinois State Police found that Smith had fled into a wooded area. After a short search, Smith returned to the home unaware of police presence, at which time he resisted arrest.

Smith was taken to the Adams County Jail and lodged without bond.

He is charged with domestic battery, aggravated assault, criminal damage to property, resisting a peace officer and intimidation.
