QUINCY, ILL. -- It's not unusual for the Great River Economic Development Foundation to hold an annual meeting every January. But Wednesday night was a bit unusual than years past.

The man who has been at the helm of economic development in the Quincy and Adams County area for more than a quarter-century was honored.

Jim Mentesti retired from the Great River Economic Development Foundation.

He was at the center of a celebration at the Oakley Lindsey Center.

KHQA asked Mentesti what he was most proud of during his years of service.

"Convincing people that we have so much to sell here, and we had to pull things together as a team," he said.

Phil Conover is serving as GREDF's interim president.
