Firemen find suspicious items after fighting Macon house fire

MACON, MO. -- The Macon Fire Department responded to a fire in the 200 block of Butler Street Wednesday around 7:20 p.m.

During the investigation, firemen told police that they observed suspicious items inside the home.

Police arrested a 55-year-old Alan L. White of Macon and formally charged him with manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana,) possession with intent to distribute (marijuana,) and possession of drug paraphernalia Thursday with a $50,000 cash only bond.

Officers seized numerous items from the residence, including 20 potted marijuana plants.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Macon Police Department and Fire Department. Officers were assisted by the North Missouri Drug Task Force.
