Latest local news, weather and high school sports for Tri-State area

CARTHAGE, ILL. -- The Illini West High School District will ask voters again for a new high school.

According to the Tri-State Public Radio, the Board of Education will put an $8 million bond issue on the April ballot. Click here to read the complete story.

You'll recall in November voters rejected a $9 million dollar bond issue to build a new high school just down the road. That left the school district at a loss with what to do.

After the bond issue was defeated Kim Chilton, the Illini West superintendent said, "People were pretty disappointed. A lot of work went into that referendum."

Now board members plan another push to fund construction. However, this time they plan to hold a series of community meetings to inform voters about the need for a new school building.
