QUINCY, ILL. -- Three dozen people turned out to a Quincy cemetery Friday night to remember a life lost too soon.

Five-year-old Alan Madden was brutally beaten to death in 1981.

His mother and her boyfriend were convicted of the crime.

Friday night, dozens took a moment of silence and prayer to remember Madden at his grave in Graceland Cemetery.

Organizers hope the tragedy will serve as a reminder to not look the other way if you suspect child abuse or neglect.
