QUINCY, ILL. -- One hundred Q.U. students will blanket the community this Saturday doing good deeds.

This weekend students will actively remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy as part of the MLK Day of Service on Saturday.

Students will do service projects at 13 non-profit agencies throughout the community.

Director of Multicultural & Leadership Programs Natasha Ramsey says the goal of the event is not only service, but also to get students thinking about the importance of giving back to their communities.

"And so the discussions will entail why students chose to get involved on this day, why the students chose their site and then what would happen if their site closed down? What would be impact to the community if we lost that site?" Ramsey said.

Dr. King was assassinated in 1968.

Although President Reagan signed a law approving a King holiday in 1983, it wasn't until 2000 that all 50 states recognized it as one.
