Ex-Canton Cop gets sentencing date on sex charge

QUINCY, ILL. -- A former Canton, Missouri police officer will be sentenced March 26 on sexual abuse charges.

Jamie Bell, 25, was in court Tuesday to learn what day an Adams County judge will sentence him to up to five years in state prison.

Bell was arrested February 22, 2012 on a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between ages 13 and 16. He pleaded guilty to the charge in August.

He has been free on bond since March.

Judge William Mays will hand down his sentence at the hearing scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
