Investigators were able to confirm that the emails were a scam.

If you receive this type of email, do not open or answer it.

This is the first time a scam of this nature has been identified in the Tri-States.

If you have any questions, please contact Detective Tyler Wheeler or Detective Gloria Hobbs at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 573-769-2077 or 573-221-6400.
