Carthage man killed in early morning crash

HANCOCK COUNTY, ILL. -- A Carthage man died in a one-car crash in Hancock County Sunday morning.

According to the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m.

Officers believe Curtis Fleming, 36, was heading northbound on County Road 1600 E near County Road 1200 N when his vehicle ran off the road.

The vehicle flipped after hitting an embankment. Fleming was thrown from the car. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Police say a passerby came upon the crash site around 6:30 a.m. and called 911.
