Arrest made in Hannibal shooting

HANNIBAL, MO. -- Police arrested a man wanted in connection with a Jan. 28 Hannibal shooting.

Martez Peete, 25, was wanted in the shooting of the 38-year-old man who was hospitalized after a shooting in the 400 block of North Arch Street.

Detectives developed information that Peete was hiding at a residence in Mexico, Mo. Hannibal detectives located Peete at the residence, hiding in the attic. Peete was arrested without incident and placed in the Marion County Jail on a parole violation detainer.

A warrant was issued Tuesday afternoon charging Peete with a Class A felony of assault first degree, serious injury and cash only bond was set at $100,000.00.

The shooting took place shortly before 7 p.m. on January 28th and the victim of the shooting was then driven to Canton by a friend.

Police responded to a home in the 600 block of South Fourth Street of Canton where they found him and then transported him to Blessing by ambulance.

Peete remains in the Marion County Jail.
