HANNIBAL, MO. -- A man convicted of killing two people in Hannibal in 2009 will not have a new trial.

The Missouri Eastern Appellate Court has denied Manuel Cazares' appeal for a new trial.

He was convicted of two counts of second degree murder almost two years ago in the deaths of Amanda Thomas and Carl Patrick Epley.

Cazares also was found guilty of armed criminal action.

A court affirmed that ruling last November.

The case was closed in December.
