HANNIBAL, MO. -- Hannibal businesses took in extra business Saturday evening thanks to hundreds of area sweet tooths.

The city's third annual Chocolate Extravaganza drew in Tri-State residents looking for free chocolate and live music.

The $20 passport was stocked with five coupons redeemable for a variety of chocolate themed treats at dozens of downtown stores.

One of Hannibal's newest shops, St. Petersburg Merchantile, saw its free desserts fly off the table in a matter of hours.

"This is a first for us. We just opened Oct. 1. So this is the first Chocolate Extravaganza we've been in. But business has been great today, even though the weather started out a little bad, it looked a lot better this afternoon and had a lot of people out," Ginger Brooks, the store owner said.

Once their craving for chocolate subsided, many of the town's visitors turned to the music filling the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum Saturday evening.

The band, Starlifter, is a component of the The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America. The six piece rock and roll band took the stage at 5:30 p.m. Members performed hits from the 70s as well as some of the newest hits of Bruno Mars and the Zach Brown Band.

"That range of rock and roll, going back 40 to 50 years should cover a pretty broad base of folks, so we look forward to seeing smiles from different aged folks everywhere we go," Master Sgt. Paul Shaw said.

The group is stationed at Scott Air Force Base, but tours across ten states in the Midwest. The Starlifters travel once a month for concerts, outreach programs and recruiting.
