IOWA CITY, IOWA (AP) -- A fraternity at the University of Iowa has been closed by its national organization after several members were arrested on drug charges.
The Delta Upsilon International Fraternity reprimanded it UI chapter after an investigation showed its members violated fraternity and university policies.
Justin Kirk, the fraternity's executive director, says "Substance abuse does not have a place in our fraternity."
Several fraternity members were arrested December 8 for allegedly dealing drugs from the fraternity house. Police searched the house and seized four safes, cash, illegal drugs, scales and ledgers.
Officials say fraternity members living in the chapter house will be evicted.
Brad John is president of the Iowa Chapter Alumni board. He says students will be given help to find other housing.
