Four family members are dead after the van they were traveling in crashed and submerged into a nearby pond Sunday morning.

It happened in Hancock County on Deer Run Trail about three miles west of north 19th street in Hamilton.

The victims were identified as 36-year-old Tasha Elliott, who was the Principal at Hamilton Elementary School. Her husband, 38-year-old Kevin, and their two children 11-year-old Wyatt, and seven-year-old Madison Elliott.

This tragedy comes as a shock to the entire community.  There was a candlelight vigil Sunday tonight at Hamilton Elementary school.

It was a very emotional night.  KHQA spoke with PTO Co-Chair Robin Brumley. She says both Carthage and Hamilton communities are devastated, and they're still numb from this.

A faculty member told KHQA that there will be classes on Monday, and grief counselors will be available. The accident is under investigation.
