SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- With the primary elections over, Illinois lawmakers are returning to work Wednesday.
But they are likely to focus on getting organized for the spring session.
Major work probably won't begin until Governor Rod Blagojevich delivers his State of the State speech and budget proposal next week.
Normally, lawmakers would be getting back to work after a long absence from the Capitol.
But last year's legislative session was so difficult that some issues dragged over until this year. So lawmakers have only been away for a few weeks and the hard feelings haven't faded away.
Budget problems are likely to dominate the spring legislative session. The state has major debts but revenues appear to be weakening.
