One person was hospitalized Tuesday morning after their car nearly struck a deer near Liberty.

Kathryn E. Lambert, 20, and passenger Justin K. Breneman, 25, both of Quincy, were westbound about 2 a.m. on the Kellerville Blacktop near 1210th Avenue when Lambert swerved to miss a deer.

The 2002 two-door Saturn left the north side of the blacktop and struck several trees before coming to a rest against an embankment.

Breneman walked to a nearby home and called 911.

Both were taken to the Blessing Hospital emergency room with minor injuries.
