QPS superintendent search finally over

QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy Public School District hired new superintendent Friday.

Steven Cobb is from Fort Wayne, Indiana and is currently the chief academic officer for Fort Wayne Community Schools.

The district has been without a full-time superintendent since June 30, 2012 when former district leader Lonny Lemon took a position at a Chicago-area district.

Retired Quincy School District Business Manager Bud Martin served as the first interim superintendent.

Former Moline School District Superintendent Cal Lee who has been in the interim position since mid-September.

The Quincy school board named its third interim superintendent Thursday.

QPS Business Manager Joel Murphy will take over for Lee starting Monday and will remain in the position until Steven Cobb begins on July 1st.

A search firm, School Exec Connect, assisted in the superintendent search.
