HANNIBAL, MO. -- After the initial outcry of not wanting to poison the pigeons in downtown Hannibal, Friday, the Big River Pest Control showed off what they've been able to accomplish over the past couple of weeks.

The Hannibal-based company says they've used cages, bait, nets and even hand trapping to catch about 60 pigeons so far.

The idea is to remove as many pigeons as they can.

They've completed about four weeks of trapping and they expect to continue it for another four weeks.

The company says they think there is still between 500 to 1000 pigeons that have to be caught.

The birds that are captured are being turned over to a local pigeon breeder.
