ADAMS COUNTY, ILL. -- UPDATED: May 17 at 8 a.m.
A body was pulled from the Mississippi River this past weekend.
Adams County Coroner Jim Keller has confirmed it is George Schmitt. Schmitt went missing on May 4.
Keller says an autopsy has determined that drowning was the cause Schmitt's death.

Friends and family of George Schmitt gathered at the Quincy riverfront to remember their loved one Wednesday evening.
A memorial service was held at Clat Adams Park to celebrate his life.
Schmitt has been missing since a week ago after his boat was found floating on the Mississippi River.
KHQA's Rajah Maples spoke with a family member before Wednesday night's service.
He described Schmitt as fun who loved sports, the river and the great outdoors.

After switching rescue efforts into recovery mode, three cadaver dogs were brought in from Bloomington, Ill. to continue the search for missing Quincy man, George Schmitt.
There will be a memorial service held on Wednesday for Schmitt so that family and friends can gather to celebrate his life.
The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. at Clat Adams Park in Quincy on the riverfront.

KHQA's Jim Whitfield was able to speak with Adams County Sheriff Brent Fischer Monday morning about the ongoing search for George Schmitt.
They will have 5 boats on the water Monday and they will also use a bloodhound to try and pick up a scent.
Eventually, a cadaver dog may also be brought in to help in the search.
Search crews will go all day Monday with the surface search and into Tuesday.

Search and rescue crews continued their search near the Quincy riverfront Sunday for what they are calling a missing person.
Wednesday night, Quincy resident George Schmitt went missing after taking his boat out on the water. His boat was later found floating south of Quincy, with no sign of Schmitt.
Family members spent the day at Clat Adams park awaiting any news from search crews. The last known contact with Schmitt was Wednesday just after 5 p.m. on his cell phone.

The Adams County Sheriff's department is looking for the owner of boat that was discovered floating unattended in the river Wednesday night.
Just before 9 p.m., the Quincy police and fire and water rescue were sent to the Front and Hampshire to look into a boat floating south past the Bay View Bridge.
Employees from Canton Marine and towing managed to get a hold of the boat and secure it.
The Adams County sheriff's department was asked to help in the investigation to find the owner. The owner's name has not been released.
According to The Quincy Herald-Whig, search efforts are currently underway for him. They have reported that the boat owner's pickup truck was found north of Knapheide Landing with the keys in it near his river camp. Fire Department authorities told The Quincy Herald-Whig that they have not found anyone near the boat or in the area of the owner's river camp.
