Track should be ready to go by October

QUINCY, ILL. -- A new attraction is coming to Scotties Fun Spot in Quincy soon.
Heavy equipment has been very busy clearing away land for the new go cart race track that is coming to Scotties.
When the work is done, families will be able to race 20 green-friendly electric cars around the 35,000 square foot track.
Adding the go cart track was a part of the original expansion plan, but it has taken about a year to finally make that a reality.
Manager Jeff Scott says that these carts also have a safety feature that will be a real comfort for parents.
"We can actually put 10 kids on there and control the speed. If they are doing good, we can increase their speed," Scott said. "And also if somebody's out of control, we can slow them down safely and bring them to a stop."
Jeff Scott hopes that the track will be popular family destination for both adults and teenagers.
It will also be available for after prom and after graduation parties.
Weather permitting, the new go cart track should be open by mid October.
