QUINCY, ILL. -- School security was at the forefront of Wednesday night's Quincy school board meeting.
The Quincy School District's chief of security gave a brief synopsis of the state of security throughout the school district.
Billy Meyer said every school building has guards, a locked school policy and metal detectors.
The district placed a security guard in every building after the Columbine school shooting.
The metal detectors were implemented following the Amish school shooting in 2006.
"There have been a lot of inquiries from other school districts asking what we're doing and what they can do improve security," he said. "We're going to do our very best to protect their children each and everyday."
The Quincy School Board also adopted a 2012 tax levy rate, which is lower than last year's.
