FT. MADISON, IOWA -- The Fort Madison School District is deciding what to do with an old school building.

Denmark Elementary and the old middle school was abandoned when a new $19 million school was built on 98 acres at 48th and Bluff Road for fourth through eighth grades.

According to Tri-State Public Radio, bids are now being accepted for the former middle school, but so far there has not been a lot of interest shown in the old Denmark School building.  Click here to read the complete story from Tri-State Public Radio.

The Denmark School building has sat vacant for months.

The Fort Madison School Board may consider demolition if someone does not come forward with a solid offer to acquire the building.

Fort Madison's new school opened in time for school for the 2012 school year.  Click here for a tour of the new building.
