The Quincy Police Department along with a K9 searched the area around the First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust at 3233 Broadway.

Lt. Jason Simmons with QPD said police responded to the bank robbery at 4 p.m.

The suspect is a thin black male, 6 feet tall and is in his mid-to-late 20s. He was wearing a blue stocking cap, red jacket or fleece, gloves, black rimmed glasses and grey sweat pants.

Bank tellers told police the suspect ran westbound and possibly entered a building following the robbery.

Officers searched nearby parking lots and inside various businesses around the mall and the residential area north of the mall and found no one who met the description.

The bank remained on lock down Wednesday evening as officers looked over surveillance video.

Police said that they don't believe the suspect remained in the area.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Quincy Police Department at 228-4470.
