QUINCY, ILL. -- A 48-hour boil order remains in effect for residents near 24th and State Streets in Quincy Sunday evening.

A water main break late Saturday night flooded parts of the northbound and southbound lanes of S. 24th St. just after 10 p.m.

Workers from Quincy Central Services were on scene to assess the damage. Repairs were expected to take 4 to 6 hours.

The boil order is effective for houses along S. 24th St. from State St. to Washington St.
