QUINCY, ILL. -- One local woman had enough of her daily routine working for the man.

She decided to go into business for herself.

"I could live here actually," The Potted Fern owner, Tina Sutter said. "I have a hard time leaving at night.

Sutter bought this old house on North 12th Street almost two years ago and decided to turn it into her new dream business.

"I love home decor and I think that Quincy has a need for more gift shops," Sutter said. "It's right here by the hospital, it's fitting for the gifts and it's a place that makes you feel good."

When you first walk in to The Potted Fern your eyes don't know where to go; home decor, purses, baby clothes, coffee. The shop has it all.

"It seems like there's a lot of repetition," Sutter said. "There's always the chain stores and what not and I think different variety makes it nice for people. We wanted to be a one stop shopping experience, an escape from the normal shopping experience. We wanted to have something for everyone."

Sutter only has two employees. Just the right amount of staff she's always wanted to have, at the business she's always envisioned.

"It's been a very enjoyable business to have," Sutter said. "This is what I love, I do what I love."
