One of five states in a complete drought

IOWA (AP) -- Iowa is ranked as one of five states, including Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and South Dakota that are completely in a drought.

That according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

A report released by the agency says that as of Tuesday, about 61 percent of the continental U.S. was in some form of drought.

On average about 60 percent of the continental U.S. has been dealing with drought conditions since July.

More than 21 percent of the that same area are considered in extreme to exceptional drought condition.
