QUINCY, ILL. -- Interested in enjoying the great outdoors while focusing on your health? You'll want to make note of a couple of offerings this summer.

The Quincy Park District and Cheryl Loatsch Studio are offering a fitness program for the entire family.

Family Park Workout will give families a chance to spend time together and participate in a healthy outdoor activity.

The class will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays June 5 to July 26.

"Number one, just getting outside in the sun. It provides a lot of vitamins and gets your relaxed," Cheryl Loatsch Studio Instructor Andrea Copenhaver said.

Workouts will have a variety of options depending on age.

The entire family is welcome, including grandparents.

The first class will be in South Park at the large shelter house.

Each class thereafter will meet at a park location that will be specified weekly.

"We are encouraging families to get together because it's just quality family time," Copenhaver said.

Participation is $15 per person for the 6-week session.

You can find a similar program offered in Hannibal this summer.

Fitness in the Park begins Monday, June 4 at Riverview Park.

YMCA fitness instructors will lead this free all-over body workout 8:30-9:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Riverview Park near the playground. Participants need not be a YMCA member.
