KEOKUK, IOWA -- People from all around the country travelled to the river city to set their sights on as many bald eagles as they could. This was the 29th anniversary for the Keokuk Bald Eagle Appreciation Days.

When the event began, bald eagles were an endangered species.

Executive director of the Keokuk Convention and Tourism Kirk Brandenberger said the event is now considered to be a celebration of the area and a good reason for people to visit the city.

The event consisted of watching eagles in their natural habitat, breakfast by the river and even a live bird show at the River City Mall along with a number of other activities.

Southside Boat Club holds a breakfast for the event and raises seven hundred dollars for the boat club each year.
