MARION COUNTY, MO. -- A high-speed car chase ended in multiple car crashes and an arrest in Marion County Friday night.

Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Department say they began to follow Steven Craig Caskey, age 21, of Hannibal, after he failed to stop at a stop sign at County Road 418, just west of Veterans Rd. Deputies say he was also traveling faster than the posted speed limit. After a short time, deputies attempted to stop Caskey, but he refused to stop. Deputies say that's when a high-speed pursuit began.

The pursuit continued on to Paris Gravel Rd. and to the intersection of Highway 61, where Caskey's vehicle hit another vehicle, pushing it into the median. Police say Caskey drove away from the scene heading toward Market St., traveling at speeds of 90 miles an hour. That's when he crashed while attempting to make a turn off Market St.

A short foot pursuit ensued before deputies caught Caskey in a creek bed. Deputies used a taser to subdue Caskey during a continued struggle with police and transported him to the Marion County Jail.

Caskey was taken into custody for the following: fail to yield to an emergency vehicle, hit and run accident, driving while license revoked, and resisting a police officer by fleeing.

Caskey remains in jail on a probation/parole warrant.
