QUINCY, ILL. -- A Quincy man is recovering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

Quincy police went to a home at 424 North 16th after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a shooting.

Brice P. Powers, age 21, had a gunshot wound to his right leg.

His injury was not life-threatening, and he was released from Blessing Hospital after treatment.

There was a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun at the home.

KHQA contacted Quincy police and discovered the investigation is being conducted at this time as an accidental or unintentional shooting.

An updated news release says "the report is only being sent to the State's Attorney as a matter of routine review".
