QUINCY, ILL. -- The Illinois Veterans Home will host the annual City of Quincy Fireworks Display on Monday, July 4th as part of the Home’s 125th Anniversary Celebration.

The fireworks display is usually held at the Quincy riverfront, but has been moved for the celebration.

Organizers have worked to include special events leading up to the fireworks display.

The logistics of the event, including parking, are explained here.

Parking on IVHQ grounds will be controlled and very limited. Only staff or volunteers working as part of the celebration will be allowed to park on the grounds. There will be handicapped parking slots available as well.

The Quincy Police Department has laid out some information about parking just outside of IVHQ grounds:

  • No parking will be allowed on the South Side of Locust Street from 4:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.
  • Locust Street from 8th to 12th will be closed to traffic from the start of the fireworks until pedestrian traffic has cleared after the fireworks.
  • Sections of 5th Street, Parkview Drive and Gardner Park drive will be posted as no parking.

The event includes: a fishing derby, museum displays, a classic car show, a kids' zone, skydivers, and food vendors.

The Quincy Community Park Band, under the direction of Pam Potter, will be playing all those patriotic selections you’d expect to hear on the 4th of July.  The Park Band will perform on the Quincy Park District Showmobile just south and east of the Administration Building.
