QUINCY, ILL. -- The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory until Tuesday night.

The NWS defines a heat advisory as the following:  Issued within 12 hours of the onset of the following conditions: heat index of at least 105°F but less than 115°F for less than 3 hours per day, or nighttime lows above 80°F for 2 consecutive days.

The heat index is expected to be over 100 on Tuesday and then again this weekend.

Whether you're outside working or playing in the heat, the NWS has these tips for you.

Do the most of your work in the morning and late afternoon when it's the coolest.

Drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks and go to a shaded area frequently.

Wear lighted colored clothing and if you feel to overheated seek medical help.

Watch out for your friends, family, neighbors and especially the elderly in this heat.  They might not recognize the signs of heat exhaustion in themselves.

Post your comments about the heat below or on our Facebook page here ... who knows, we may even use them in our newscasts!
