QUINCY, ILL. -- We have all heard about how this drought is affecting the summer crops, but what about the next season to come.

Tuesday, I visited the Mill Creek Farms pumpkin patch to find out how the pumpkin crop is looking. There I found a healthy looking batch of pumpkins, running well ahead of schedule due to the summer heat.

But don't be fooled ... these pumpkins enjoy irrigation and there is a sharp contrast with those crops just depending on Mother Nature.

So, what did I learn?  Expect to see fewer pumpkins, earlier this year and you may have to pay a higher price; because irrigation does not come cheap.
