GRIGGSVILLE, ILL. -- The Pike County Illinois Sheriff's Department is investigating a suspicious fire Thursday night in Griggsville.

Griggsville firefighters were called to an abandoned house at the corner of North Bickford and East Quincy Streets during the evening hours of August 23.

More than 20 firefighters responded from the Griggsville and North Pike Volunteer fire departments to find the home was completely engulfed in flames.

The structure did not have any utilities at the time and was slated for demolition. Firefighters concentrated their efforts on keeping the fire from spreading to neighboring homes.

Now the fire investigation is in the hands of the Pike County Sheriff's Department.
