For the first time since parting ways with Mark Hendrickson, Western Illinois University Athletic Director Doctor Tim Van Alstine met with the media today to share his vision for the future of Leatherneck Football.
Bottom line: this is a decision the AD knows he can't miss on.
"It's a great opportunity. This is a place where you can win but its certainly going to take the right coach with a very unique set of skills....The recipe is all encompassing. It's not just one factor why we lost traction. But we have to find the right coach who can put all the ingredients together to make the recipe work for us to be success. To compete for Missouri Valley Conference Championships, make the playoffs on a regular basis. So the right person is out there and I am confident we are going to find him. "
Van Alstine tells KHQA he's had more than 60 resumes in the applicant pool and is aiming to have a new coach installed by December 19th.
