(AP) -- DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa farmers could harvest 2.5 billion bushels of corn this season.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Iowa corn farmers could see a yield of 187 bushels an acre, up 16 bushels from last season. Last month Iowa yields were expected to be 185 bushels an acre.

will mean that livestock, poultry and hog producers will be able to buy feed grains cheaper.

Iowa State University agronomist Roger Elmore says corn growing conditions have been good this year with enough rain, cool temperatures and little field disease.
