SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- A federal judge has sentenced a 50-year-old Springfield man who worked part-time as a clown and as Santa Claus to eight years and four months in federal prison for receiving and possessing child pornography.
U.S. District Judge Jeanne Scott also sentenced defendant August Billek to a lifetime of supervised release when his prison term is completed.
Billek pleaded guilty to both possessing and receiving child pornography.
He also agreed to forfeit to the government his computer and related equipment.
At the time of his arrest on May 18, Billek worked part-time as "Downtown the Clown."
He also worked as a Santa Claus during the Christmas season.
