QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy School Board met Wednesday night.

There were questions surrounding why School Board President Melvin "Bud" Niekamp's signature will not be on the diplomas of the graduating class of Quincy Senior High School this year.

Vice President Tom Dickerson signed the diplomas after it was determined that when the Board authorized reduction of his powers earlier in the year, signing the diplomas was included in that.

Niekamp expressed his disappointment. The board also approved for renovations to begin on the Quincy Junior High Athletic Field.

The cost of renovations will be a little more than $26,000.

The junior high activity fund has the monies to complete the proposed changes. Also approved were roof replacement bids for the Junior High Auditorium and various buildings at the high school.

Those are part of the life safety projects that are to be completed this year.
