QUINCY, ILL. -- Since February, one Camp Point family has been struggling more than most.

The Jones' third son Brayden was born premature with a handful of medical issues.

The community held Benefit for Brayden to help raise money Sunday.

Tasha Jones gave birth to her son Brayden eight weeks pre-mature...

"He came home when he was six weeks old, then he got RSV, and pneumonia, and now he has broncopulminary displasia. This week he's having a surgery to get a trachia and he'll be on a home ventilator to help keep enough pressure in his lungs to keep them inflated," said mom Tasha Jones.

But that's not all. Six month old Brayden has Down Syndrome, and was born with two holes in his heart, and an enlarged heart. Tasha's step-mom Koleen says it hasn't been easy on the family.

"The family has had a lot of financial burdens with this if you can imagine, your whole life has been turned upside down because he's been in the hospital basically since birth," said Brayden's grandmother Koleen Lord.

"It's hard, it's really hard. Our family has been torn apart really. We have our house bills, and our bills in St. Louis to stay there, and then driving back and forth, and it actually costs a lot and we're just trying to keep everything going," said Jones.

So Sunday, people from all over the area came to the South Side Boat Club in Quincy to show their support for the Jones family. The community raised money through a live auction and through raffle ticket sales.

"You don't realize how blessed you are with the people that you know with your family until something like this happens, to see all of them spend their money, take their time, that are here for you, and your family, it's just great, it's wonderful," said Lord.

"There's a lot of people I don't know, there's a lot that I do know, but a lot of these people I have no idea who they are. So, it's really good to see people here that don't know me, and don't know him, but they're still coming to show their support, so, that's still good," said Jones.

Brayden is staying in the Ronald McDonald House which costs 5 dollars a day.

The family has already spent close to $700 just for him to stay the night.

If you were unable to attend Sunday, you can still donate.

A bank account has been set up for Benefit for Brayden at all Mercantile Banks in the area.
