QUINCY, ILL. -- For the third year, Quincy's Turner Hall rocked out to help make Christmas brighter for children a part of the "Make a Merry Christmas" campaign.

The event sponsored by the Quincy Public School Transportation Department aims to select less fortunate families from each of Quincy's public schools and then make their Christmas brighter by delivering a school bus full of goodies to that family's home.

Jessie Shaw has been helping her mom, Jony, who spearheads this event each year.

"Each year, a couple of days before Christmas, we decorate the school bus to look like a Christmas present. We dress up in Santa Claus hat s and we look like elves and we hand deliver all the presents. It's a very emotional scene. We have had neighbors come out of their houses and thank us because they know how hard their neighbors have been hit," said Shaw.

Shaw says this year, the need seems even greater and they could use your help in finding new or gently used toys and other items for some of the families. If you'd like to help, call 217-740-8126.
