The membership of the Quincy Federation of Teachers has voted to accept a two-year contract offer from the Quincy Public School District.

Teachers voted at Baldwin Intermediate School on Wednesday afternoon.

Sources say preliminary details call for a two-year contract with the cost of employee and family health insurance frozen for two years.

Eligible teachers will receive step-level salary increase in March.

In the second year of the contract, teachers will receive step salary increases plus a 1 percent raise.

The Quincy School Board will hear details of the contract at Wednesday night’s meeting, but will not vote on the contract until a special meeting being held Thursday at noon.

The school board approved seeking bids for a $6-million dollar line of credit for end of the school year expenses to have that money in place if a working cash fund bond issue fails in the March election.

District finance director Bud Martin says the line of credit would not be used if the bond issue is approved by voters, but it does need to be in place if needed.

Martin says the debt has been carried over for a number of years.

If voters approve the working cash bonds, that would repay the debt and move the expense into the working cash fund while eliminating the deficit in the education fund.
