A federal judge in Springfield sentenced a man to 10 years in prison on charges related to making methamphetamine.

Peter Mayslak, 46, of Chicago traveled Quincy in June after having conversations with a West Central Illinois Task Force informant about how to make the drug. Both men were jailed in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Mayslak was arrested June 8 near Broadway and Illinois Route 172. He brought 12 boxes of pills containing pseudoephedrine, according to a task force agent's testimony.

Mayslak was originally charged in Adams County with possession of methamphetamine precursors and methamphetamine manufacturing, but those charges were dropped in July after he was charged in federal court.

Mayslak is required to serve at least 85-percent of his, according to court documents.
